This steep uphill rocky hillclimb demonstrates how well the ESP's torque distribution really works. The car drove right up on this first (most difficult) attempt at the hill, making fresh tracks. A second attempt at the hill with ESP off was unsuccessful. A third attempt with the ESP back on again was an easy climb. Without limited-slip differentials, diff locks, or (in the case of the SX4) a brake-based ESP system to distribute torque back to the tires with the most traction, this hill could not be climbed.
