The latest round of matches in the Suzuki Cup saw 2008 finalists Thailand in action against Group A opponents Myanmar. Thailand endured a disastrous campaign last time out - crashing out at the group stage after failing to win a game. But following their opening victory against the Philippines, they went into Tuesday's match full of confidence, breaking the deadlock 20 minutes in. Teerasil Dangda latching on to Phichitphong Choeichiu's ball to score - to the delight of head coach Winfried Schafer. Schafer, who won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2002, was smiling again on the hour mark. Apipoo Suntornpanavej headed in to double Thailand's lead. They went further ahead eight minutes from time - Dangda netting his second of the match. And the 24-year-old attacker completed an impressive hat-trick just before full time, brilliantly rounding off a comprehensive Thailand win. Vietnam, who beat Thailand to win the 2008 crown, faced the Philippines in Tuesday's other Group A game. The Philippines, nicknamed the street dogs, made the early running. Former Chelsea player Philip Younghusband looked certain to score midway through the first half, but slipped at the vital moment. That miss looked set to prove costly until four minutes from time, when Philippines substitute Emilio Caligdong fired home, after Angel Guirado had split the Vietnam defence.
